What is Managed Services
A popular trend today for IT Management is known as “Managed Services”. Every day many businesses are buying into this IT support service. But what does managed services actually mean and how can you tell if an IT Support company is not just using the word as a marketing tool, but is in fact only offering “flat rate” services packaged as “managed services”?
As a definition, Managed Services allows a business to offload all IT functions to a technology service company, known as a Managed Services Provider (MSP). The managed service provider assumes a proactive ongoing responsibility for 24-hour monitoring, managing and/or problem resolution for the IT systems within a business. With the advent of cloud offerings, the MSP will also offer vendor management and act as a cloud broker. A more mature MSP will also become a Business Services Provider, and work with owners and C level executives to develop and execute a roadmap that is visionary, disruptive and profitable. MaM
